In additon to its prestigious Conservatory graduate program, AFI's training series include a directing workshop for women, a TV writers workshop and advanced technology labs. AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival (October) screens a broad range of films, independent as well as studio fare. The Maya Deren Award grants $5,000 to three independent artists annually."
